Apple releases products in predictable time frames. iPhone 5 will be released in June.
Apple has changed their predictability in the past. They're not going to handcuff them self to past release schedules or what talking heads expect. It’s in their (and our) interest for them to release new hardware when it’s ready.

Smart to release it now. The verizon iPhone, then the white one, extends the freshness of the iPhone while they extend the iPhone 5 release to the fall. I think by fall they will be ready with a larger screen, NFC, LTE, and a cloud-integrated iOS 5.

What about a Magic Trackpad?
Trackpads and touch screens are quite different input devices. Touch screen input requires that you actually "touch" what you want to manipulate. With a trackpad, you don't have quite the precision to precisely put your finger on an object on screen, since the object is not displayed on the track pad.
It just doesn't translate that well. Trackpads still very much require cursors, which iOS's UI lacks.

Which doesn't mean much because it doesn't factor in the iPod or iPad, which both run iOS. It's better to look at platform marketshare rather than just smartphone marketshare.

Wouldn't matter anyway if you were using a ThunderBolt external hard drive. Very few mechanical hard drives can even reach 1Gbps-2Gbps. You'll need several of the fastest SSDs in RAID to even reach ThunderBolt speeds.
USB 3.0 FTW. More practical.

I hope nobody buys any white iphones. The whole thing just annoys me for some reason.
i've been thinking the same as you, iphones are just needs-we-didn't-need, but with times and curiosity and much advertising, all this became natural and necessary.
i wish i could get back to a phone that just calls and texts, but sadly i'm too used to have internet/facebook on-the-go, and i just love the qwerty keyboard to text.
those are the only two things i would miss, so i was thinking to find a cheap used iphone 2g and sell my 3gs:)

I see where you are getting at but who would want to use an ipod for video conferencing when the business user which it is aimed at rather use a phone like the Razr V3x, a pda or that new 4.5in Sony tablet pc.
What makes you think that it's aimed at "business users"? Seriously? Is VOIP and/or video-conferencing solely meant for just businesses? Mere mortals need to stay away from it?

But this is how the true Apple believer thinks. If Apple doesn't make it, you don't need it. If anyone else makes it, it's junk. All that matters is that Apple makes huge sums of money so we can brag about it here. Not wise to step in and try to break up this fight. Knock someone's tooth out, you can get sued. You can get beaten up (or stabbed, or shot) yourself. Whoever called the police and told the attackers they were on their way did the right thing.

The biggest question I have is whether the dual Thunderbolt will support 2 external monitors.

Likely: same design as current iPhone with antenna tweaks, A5 dual-core chip, more RAM, 8MP back camera, 1.3MP front camera, 64GB capacity (max), iOS 5, incresased battery life, etc.
Somewhat Likely: "gestures", LiquidMetal, 4G (probably not till 2012, but who knows), improved display, etc.
Not Likely: complete redesign

I really don't see them adding the dual core chip to the iPhone or the iPod Touch, maybe an increase in processor speed but I think the more powerful processor is going to be reserved for the iPad now.

If I ruled the world the person / people doing the beating would get a mandatory minimum 5 years in jail. The prison population would go up short term but the message would get across eventually. No getting out early for good behaviour either.
