Imagine you lived in the 1500s and someone showed you two computers. If you had zero prior computer experience, would you pick a touch based computer... or would you pick one where you move some arrow shaped icon with a 2nd device called the mouse.
We're very used to using a mouse, but it's definitely not the most natural way to interact with a computer. It's not easy either. I've seen old people that never could figure out how to double click without moving the cursor 50 pixels from where they wanted to click.
Great comment!

That thread Spook posted is hilarious! Man we're so many people 100% wrong with their opinions... the iPod owns the world now! I wasn't a fan of Apple back when the iPod was introduced, so I didn't have any expectations. I didn't even know it was coming. But now I sit here with both my 3G 30GB and 5G 60GB iPods on my desk. :D

Again as I stated before... Apple is really starting to dabble in the 3D interface. The album art is a good example of this. Granted its a rip off of someone else's idea...No idea of the name of the app but I was playing around with it a few months back that did exactly this. *shrugs* Whatever. It makes me wonder if there is any serious GUI updates for 10.5 that we have yet to see.

I'll make this point again... How is what Apple is doing any different than what Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony do with approvals for applications on their devices? If anything, Apple should be commended for giving everyone access to the development environment at a significantly reduced cost. The reason for the approval process is clear: they want to do QA before the product is released because if something bad happens, every news organization will feature headlines about it for a week.
I don't recall massive outcry from the devs on those other platforms. Why do you think that is?

300-600 mb over the air?
They'd have to change the updates to be actual updates, rather than the "install the entire OS again" approach we have now.

you can judge me all you want ... my family is both Canadian and American.
I live on both sides of the border.
sorry if I do not support everyone's Anti-American Military views.
Cutting the Military is not for me ... Even though I would have to pay higher taxes, I'd rather scrap all these Government Casinos and Government Bookies we have up in Canada than reduce even one dollar in Military spending.
Yet time and time again you've given absolutely no reasoning as to why Canada needs a bigger military or why the USA shouldn't cut pack.
Essentially its been, "because".
Now that is fine and you are entitled to just think something "because", but you have to recognize that means it has no credibility or even rationale behind it.
I'd love for you to at least give your own reasoning so we can understand your viewpoint.

It'll be cheaper if bought via the Mac App Store, just like Aperture is cheaper than the off the shelf, boxed version when bought via the Mac App Store.
I absolutely adore these attempts at prophecy. Bottom line: We have no idea what the thing will cost, and all we can do right now is make educated guesses.

Steve looks unhealthy. He's not as sharp as he used to be. His keynotes were flawless. He stuttered several times, forgot what he was saying in mid sentence, and handed a considerable amount of the keynote to other people. Steve was a control freak in past WWDC keynotes.
I think he may be in not-so-good health. But I've said that before.
He was probably up all night worried about how Apple has to restate their earnings. And Stevo is a big part of the SEC's probe.

Having spent a fair amount of time living in a rural environment, I would like to add my distaste for Wal-Mart. They move into an area with their "low prices"
and put all the local stores out of business. There are hundreds of little towns in rural areas of the south that have been devastated by the arrival of a Wal-Mart. I have had business dealings with Wal-Mart and I will tell you they do bully suppliers. I had a shipment to them with the standard invoice terms of 2% discount if paid within 10 days or net invoice if paid withing 30 days. Well, Wal-Mart paid in 90 days and took the discount! PLus they gave me a hrad time when I called them on it! I have not shopped with them in over 15 years, and I plan on keeping it that way. The fact that they sell 40% of the DVDs sold during the Christmas buying cycle does give them clout with the studios, and that is unfortunate. However, I believe that volume could be made up elsewhere, so I am not sure that the studio heads would knuckle under. They have more and more been taking a long term view, so that may diminish Wal-Mart's clout. Let us hope so.

I locked my jaw from the constant jaw-dropping. :D
I was skeptical at first of it being dumbed down but once I saw the demo, it has a lot of things under the hood. Things just get out of the way and lets you focus on editing. It may look like iMovie but this is even better than the current Final Cut Pro and iMovie combined. Just look at how powerful the timeline is.

Why'd you get a MacBook Pro 13" if you have the iPad. I would have gotten the 15" or an iMac/Mac Mini in that case...

Gestures still function on iPad?
Yes, it does.
For whom doesn't understand what we are talkin' about: There is a way to enable 4~5 fingers gesture function which is allowed only for developers. Purchase Xcode($4.99) from Mac App Store, install it, connect the iPad to the USB port and Xcode will recognize your iPad and there is a button asks you to use this iPad for development purpose. Click it and it will ask your developer ID but you can simply click cancel, it will anyway continue the procedure to enable the function. After that, go to the preference - general on you iPad, you will get to see the option for the 4~5 fingers gesture. I personally think, it is worth more than $5.

This is the most simplistic statement.
A crap camera will never take a great picture, despite the hands it is in.
No offense but its obvious you know nothing about photography. Your statement is 100% incorrect.
I guess these are bad pictures then if good pictures can't be taken without top of the line equipment:

If it doesn't at all compromise the clarity/brightness/color of a (300ppi-ish) high-res display, great. If it does, no thanks.

I just installed the update and coreduotemp & Istat now say my temps are running in the mid 50's; before update they said 20's(which I didn't believe). Never had the RSD problem; fans don't seem any louder/more active than before the update.

~Shard~ my jaw dropped when iLounge first reported the nano was 52% smaller in volume. Too bad it wasn't true, because then I would have had to get one!
You're not alone on that one! ;) :D My Engineer brain was trying to compute how that would even be possible, and to no avail... ;)

The macbook was hacked in 60 seconds. Why it was hacked or whoose software was responsible is irrelevant. The macbook was HACKED, PERIOD!.
End of story.

That the MacBook was hacked using a third-party card and third-party drivers isn't irrelevant, it's the whole point.
There's an important difference between standard configuration and this set-up which makes it so much easier for the MacBook to be hacked. Your cheerleading aside, no Mac is hack-proof, but there's a big difference between breaking a lock and opening it because someone left the keys in the door.
