Why would they make such a stupid move? I can tell you this much, they have just lost my support as a vendor! How do they expect me to to sell a $300 copy of windows to a home user just so he can use Microsoft's O/S on his Mac? Oh well I'm sure they know what they are doing or do they?!?!?

If they didn't understand this on /., they're not going to understand this here, either.

Dumbest news all day. By all common sense, logic, physics of light, whatchamacallit.
Black will ALWAYS make things look slimmer. I betcha even Paris Hilton knows that.
Unless someone has the right mind to at least use a vernier caliper to prove the difference in thickness, this "rumour" is an absolute fail.

I don't know about setting thresholds like that, but I sure would like to be able to download (and re-download) free apps without being prompted every time.
Um, that's what he said. "Never prompt me for password with apps costing below $x" Obviously free falls under that category.

$20 a year on top of the $100 a year for mobileme would not be appealing. If the $100 a year for mobileme goes away, that's different.

I know there's a "don't prompt me next time" box that pops up in the itunes settings on OS X.
On my iPhone it seems I always have to enter my password for every download - there has to be a setting for that somewhere.
Me too. Appstore ask me to enter my pw every time I purchase something from my iPhone or my iPod Touch (even if it's a free app).

That`s not a sit-com, it`s a fly on the wall documentary :D
It's not a sitcom, because:
sitcom = situational comedy
That show is/was not funny.

Personally I voted no, not because I am ignorant, but because there wasn't a more appropriate answer. It is my job to be concerned about all aspects of computing, but I am NO MORE concerned because of this "month of kernel bugs" than I was before the month of November. I also I find it highly unlikely that I will be nipped by any of these bugs shoehorned into malware before they are wiped clean by a security update.

Copying someone else stuff isn't competing. It's a strategy, but as business strategy targeting the iPod market, it's practically a non-starter as many potential "competitors" (including Microsoft) have already found out. DRM seems to be more of an issue with some tech journals than with the general public. Tens of millions of iPods have been sold, and the iTunes music store is well on it's way to posting another billion songs sold milestone. The anti-DRM arguments don't seem to be resonating in those numbers.
At this point, I don't see anyone else mounting a formidable run at the iPod market, unless they can come with something truly unique, something smart, something that just reeks of must-have desirability and not just like the iPod has now, but even more so. That's what's at stake. So does Microsoft have the answer? Not apparently. Since Ballmer already envisions five years or so of less than stellar expectations before it's even out in front of the public, what does that tell you about Microsoft's "Zune?"
Already handicapping your yet-to-be released product just isn't a good sign.

Yeah look at any teams overall stats. They all have a huge drop in production. The first place team shows it very well. But everyteam has this drop.

With such astounding results, you may repeat after me:
Dell is DEAD. HP is DEAD. Apple RULES!
Last time I checked, Apple is still way behind Dell and HP. So I wouldn't label them as "dead" just yet.

Finally. Return of FW800 is welcome.
As I expected no revision to form factor, just a chip bump. Santa Rosa will be when they make them black and have the magnetic latch and easy access HD :).

That looks really ugly, and that is coming from a web designer :P.. I liked the original look, but It's not something I'm too concerned about, since its just a calendar app.. I can manage..
But I do hope to see something better in the final release..

Which would be better for video editing -- the current MBA or the upcoming Sandy Bridge MBA? (just family videos, nothing hardcore)
Likely the Sandy Bridge. Editing uses CPU power.
Consider that the Sandy Bridge chip has several advantages over the Core 2 Duo:

It was possible to use the previous 27" as an external display for a MacBook. Can't see any mention of that after a brief scan, and it's a deal-breaker for me. Anyone spot such a feature?

I guessing you been living under a rock.. Because my Truck CD Player plays AAC, PS3, Xbox360, PSP, DSi, 3DS, my wife and daughter's Android phone all play AAC.. The list can go on... Google is your friend....
I'm talking about portable music players that store music with a hard drive or flash memory that are NOT the Apple iPod models. In that case, it's only the higher-end players that support the AAC format, unless you buy Sony's current Walkman line of portable music players.

Tell that to the iPad 2.
At least the iPad 2 is big. Thin, small, and rounded edges don't go together, like how hard it is to hold an iPod touch.
